This one goes out to my buddy Barry, who seems to have a need for lots of coconut water for his moments of R&R.
As my regular readers know, I’m coo-coo for coconuts… I’ve written a double handful of articles about them, eat them on dozens of different ways, fill my truck with them, and generally obsess over them.
I’m always looking for ways to speed up the process of taking a husked coconut and getting the water and meat out of it. So when I stumbled upon this method, I was happy and wanted to share it with you.
Simply put, you use a corkscrew to bore into the soft eye of the coconut, then pull out the core, leaving a hole large enough for a straw or to our the liquid out. Either way, its fast, efficient, and if you carry a Swiss Army Knife, a readily available method.
Here I am on a quick demo:
That’s it, a simple, yet effective (and relatively sanitary when compared to using a screwdriver!) method to get to the water inside a coconut.
Peace,

Need something from Amazon (and who doesn’t)? I earn a small commission from purchases made when you begin your Amazon shopping experience here. You still get great Amazon service and your price is the same, no matter what.
I’m still trying to get the husks off.
LOL!
I have a tough time of that too…It seems that they are far easier once they’ve dried out…
I love love love this. I love coconuts!!!
Glad I could help! I love coconuts myself….and find that while you are able to buy coconut water in cans at the store, it does NOT tastes as good as the real thing…
Looks so easy when he does it, but I’m still not sure I could do it!! Will have to try it out for myself I guess ;).
