I’ve Lived Here Too Long

The weather is cold and wet here, I dread the thought of just getting out of bed, let alone actually leaving the house, or even doing something.

Ok, so my idea of “cold” is anything below 75 degrees, and right now it’s somewhere in the 60’s. I’ve lived in southern Florida for far too long. Those of you living up north, and currently dealing with sub freezing temps, I apologize. I’ve become the product of my environment.

I COULD put on a pair of pants, socks, and along sleeve shirt…but then everyone that knows me would wonder who died..or was getting married…it happened last Christmas when I wore a pair of khaki pants to a Christmas party. The conversations all went pretty much the same way when I walked in the door,

“Merry Christmaaa…..uhhhh, are those PANTS? Hey, he’s wearing PANTS!”

It went on like that all night…

So as of right now, I’m taking the day off, not writing about raising rabbits, or getting my solar powered barrelponic system up and running last night, or the value of stockpiling quality toilet paper, or even an update on how homeschooling has been for our first month at it.

I plan on finding some wool socks, making a hot cup of tea, and wallowing in my misery, knowing I’ve become too soft to deal with the weather I love and miss up north. If the Ice Age swooped down on us this week, I’d not make it, sad to say.

I must be getting old…sure hope those Global Warming folks are right…

My feet are cold!

Peace,
db

  1. Knowing the type of work you do, it’s far too Cold outside for that. If my clients would just turn off their Air conditioners, and just run a fan it’d be nice. With that said it’s beautiful weather to do outside work, aside from yours.

    1. You do know I dive for a living, right? Did you swim in any of those places at those temps?? What was the water temp at that time? Did you know water is 25+ times more conductive than air, causing hypothermia 25 times as fast?

      Just wondering…. 🙂

      1. Dude… relax. Most of us softies actually work indoors, you know, that 72 deg comfy place where you believed to be strapped into a cubicle while slaving for the man? I enjoy the cold air when i am in it at work, and no i didn’t know that water was that conductive as compared to air, thanks for the info. I’ll be sure to NOT enter it when ambient air temps are/below 85 deg. Happy Diving!

  2. DB, It’s been like 9* F here in LaCrosse,Wisconsin all day. It snowed about 6inches yesterday and the roads are crap! (the people driving those roads apparently LOVE paying huge car insurance premiums, because it seems to be every man for himself!) Idiots!! Just SLOW DOWN!! You are all in a hurry to wait@ the next stoplight!! 🙂 Myself, I drive for the winter, a 1994 Chevy Blazer Tahoe, that I bought for $135…3 yrs ago. She’s darn-near bullet-proof and has 310,434 miles on her! I haven’t spent any money on her besides the oil changes and gas. How’s that for saving money?? I keep my nice cars away from the fracas, and the idiots. My point being on this rant… I love where I live…Just wish there weren’t so many fools among me!!

  3. That’s funny…my cold cut off is 70F. Anything below that is cold, means its time to break out the hoodie.
