Review: Cherry Pie Larabar

Read my Larabar review intro here.

Not going to lie, I’m not a fan of cherries. As a kid, the only cherries I ever recall eating were little red ones in a jar with lots of red dye. To this day, I still don’t like cherry flavored anything.

(And for the record, I don’t count Ranier Cherries. I think of them as little nectarines. So they don’t count, and therefore I can eat those as much as I want and still maintain my dislike for other cherries.)

Cherry Pie was one I received, and I promised to review them all…so here it is.

The ingredients were simple enough: dates, almonds, and unsweetened cherries. The flavor is unmistakably a sour and/or tangy cherry. The dates even it out a bit, but its still a bit more tangy than I prefer. If you like cherries, this would be a home run for you, I’m sure. The consistency is the same as the other Larabars, a dense, brownie-like chewy bar, decent mouth feel, and sweet enough to curb the sugar cravings…unless you are a nine year old.

On a 5 point scale, I’d like this one as a 2. If I had one right now, I wouldn’t throw it away, rather, I’d save it for a rainy day, or a friend that liked the flavor. Not everything can be a home run, right? I’m certain there are flavors I rave about that others retch at the thought of, and to each their own.

If you like cherries, try it, you WILL love it. If not, no sweat, they only have 21 other options 🙂

Peace,
db
