I was over at a friend’s place a while back, and I I saw something they didn’t realize I spotted…and I don’t know that they would have wanted me to notice what they had been doing. Realizing what it was, I did what any trustworthy friend would do, I took a picture while they were out of the room.
Not only did they have some canned meat put aside, they also had some bulk curing spices and a small booze stash….for medicinal purposes, I’m sure…
Whatever the reason, I was happy to see that what I’ve been saying is rubbing off , if only a bit. Add in a 5 pound bag of rice, and there is enough food here to feed a family of four for around two weeks, with some creative stretching.
I might be getting through to some folks!
I hope you are one of them….
Why not show us YOUR pantry (anonymous is just fine)? Post some pics of some of your preps…
Peace,

As always, please “like” FloridaHillbilly on Facebook, subscribe to my feed, follow me on Twitter, add it to Google+, Pinterest, Linkdn, Digg, and/or tell your friends! The more folks that start behaving like ants, the fewer grasshoppers there will be left needing help.
Need something from Amazon (and who doesn’t)? I earn a small commission from purchases made when you begin your Amazon shopping experience here. You still get great Amazon service and your price is the same, no matter what.
Thanks for reminding me, I still need to get ahold of a pressure canner.
It is hard to beat an All American…they last for generations! I saved up and got this 921 http://amzn.to/QoNzb8
My prepper pantry is publix.
That is the problem…you’ve seen what happens before and after a hurricane – empty shelves.
If nothing else, by stocking a bit of food, you are eating tomorrow on yesterday’s prices.
I have to admit that some of your “prepper” mentality is rubbing-off on me. I have started a small “experimental” garden. And I sternly insist that I must be allowed to maintain it with VERY LITTLE HELP. I want to prove to myself that I can do it on my own… that I can remember my childhood training and also learn from new experiences. Photos can be found here: http://photos.inspiretomorrow.net/?p=5
I am humbled to know that you are being swayed by my writing. I would have thought you already had a garden!
To paraphrase Hank Williams Jr., many of us are just following a “family tradition”. My parents and grandparents went to the store once a month or so. They bought salt, flour, etc.
Unfortunately, sometimes it skips a generation! 😛
