No post today….unless you count this

Long day at work prevented me from getting anything IMPORTANT done. As much as I try not to be a slave to the dollar, once in a while (a couple days this week, it seems) I have to knuckle down and put in a long day. I got home so late Tuesday night (almost 8pm), that when I went out to the back yard to look things over, it was already dark, so I was able to lock the birds up for the night at the same time.

Doesn’t SEEM that bad, until you find that I usually am home by 2pm, leaving me plenty of time to “go hillbilly” on the back yard.

The good news is that my Lodge 6 quart Dutch Oven, lid lifter, and lid stand all arrived, so we can start playing around with campfire cooking, a topic of interest for the wife and I lately. BlueTang has long since mastered it, and we want to add it to our off-the-grid cooking options.

And for those who care, I’m looking into liverwurst recipes…that is some tasty stuff!

Hopefully, I’ll get out a decent post for tomorrow, but for now, it’s back to the grind….

  1. I can’t figure out what to do with my dog and cat when I’m gone for two days. – What happens to the Hillbilly Homestead when you and the family are off paleo-campfire camping?

    1. This is one of the biggest farming dilemmas, “Who to watch the farm while I’m gone?”

For me, it depends on how long we are gone. When we are local, I can be away for about 36-48 hours at MOST, so I try to make an appearance back at the house. Otherwise, I have a nephew I’ve trained to check on my animals, and water/feed them the proper foods.
