Get What You Need

I’ve always believed that the human spirit learns to adapt with its situation, or modify it until it is bearable. You see this in adverse situations all of the time. It’s simple human nature to adapt or change the situation.

Marriage proves this, we adapt to living with our spouse…or we get divorced.

In a job, we learn to live with the new boss, or we quit and find another job.

I adjusted to adversity by making several cross-country moves, resulting in my finally landing here in Florida, where I could find work. And then I found a wife. And then the resulting conundrum of loving a woman that refuses to relocate to West Virginia. Not willing to change the situation (via separation), I opted to adapt to it instead, and thus FloridaHillbilly.com was born.

I’ve been working on FloridaHillbilly.com for over a year now. I’ve made lots of new connections with like-minded people, learned a lot of new things, and have been able to push my life more towards what I want it to be, even though I’ve not been able to relocate to a remote part of West Virginia like I’ve believed I’ve always needed to do in order to “be happy”.

Over the past year, I’ve been contacted by others wanting me to be a part of their group, event, or broadcast. I have been given products free of charge in order to review them. I was added to the instructor list at Green Earth Survival School. I have a garden, chickens, ducks, quail, and rabbits, all to provide some of my own food.

I’ve been called upon by various folks as a consultant, as though I actually know what I’m talking about…and realized that for the most part, I did.

In short, I’m doing almost all of the things I’ve always wanted to do, and while I’m doing them, I’ve failed to realize that I’ve made it to where I’ve always wanted to be.

So I just wanted to say that I think I’ve got what I need.

Peace,
db

I’ll do what I can to get them thinking about taking back some of the control of their lives…so we don’t all end up eating Soylent Green
