Tie-in: Spearfishing Eats

Tie-in: Spearfishing Eats

Why do I hunt, fish, garden, farm, etc? Partially because I like to eat! Here is what I did after a spearfishing trip to turn a raw products into some mighty fine eating.

Start with lionfish and sheepshead you speared yourself

mix together:
1/2 cup arrowroot flour
1/2 cup cajun seasoning

Dredge chunks of lionfish and sheepshead into flour/season mixture
Fry in butter on medium-high. Flip as bottom starts to crust up, roughly 2 minutes per side.

Do the rest of the fish in batches until all are done

Pick some mixed greens from your garden

Wash, chop, spin greens

Home-grown salad, ready to plate

Tonight’s dinner is the result of fish speared today over salad greens grown in my garden.

All major ingredients provided by myself.

Self-sufficiency never tasted so good!
