Another Coconut Obsession

Another Coconut Obsession

I’ve always kicked around the idea of marketing dehydrated water….I’m guessing I’d make a killing for the ultralight hiking crowd….I just never took the initiative to get the product line started…..then researching, I found someone had beat me to it 🙁

Along those same lines, I was thinking about dehydrated coconut water, thinking it was about as realistic an option as my other product idea. Little did I know that it not only exists, I may have to add this to my long-term storage items. Since I love coconut water so much, I was more than a little intrigued.

I found multiple companies that offer variations on this idea. Some are plain coconut water with minimal ingredients. Others have flavors, such as mango, pineapple, and even Pomegranate-Raspberry. It seems to be a regular item in India, or at least more mainstream than it is here.

I’m planning on hitting the local health food stores, as well as a couple of the ethnic stores, to try to see if I can find it in packages smaller than 12 servings. Otherwise, it’s off to Amazon to order something from them….but it will be $25 worth. I just hope that I like it if I’m dropping that much on it. The good news is that at $25, I’m beating most of the local prices on a cost-per-ounce basis. Having the added benefits of a long shelf life, light weight, and low volume makes it an ideal addition.

I just hope it tastes good. Otherwise we’ll be finding out just how long it can last sitting on the shelf.

Wish me luck!

Peace,
db

PS- If you’ve ever tasted this stuff (the dehydrated kind) please drop me a line with your thoughts on it.

  1. Hey Darrell! I put a call into my step father. He owns an Indian store in WPB. They do carry the coconut powder and flakes. The powder mix costs $3.99 for a 10.58 oz. package. Let me know if you are interested, I can get some for you. I’ll text you a picture of what he has.
