Having Options

(Remember when I wrote about re-purposing my old Droid cell phone? This post is being written completely on that tiny computer as a testament to its ability to function as a option, should the need arise.)

Having options is always a step in the preparedness direction, and while you may never need them, the peace of mind they provide makes one less worry while living your life.

Over at the forums at InTheRabbitHole.com, one of the regulars asked if you could still be considered a prepper if you didn’t include a firearms plan for self defense and/or food procurement. My response was you can drive a car without having insurance and in your entire life you may never have a need for it. It only takes one incident to make you wish you had it. Nobody plans on having an accident, but they have insurance, just in case.

Having a firearm is simply adding another option in your preps. Consider prepping as a form of insurance for the possibilities of some misfortune, be it a zombie horde, or the loss of income. The zombie horde is unlikely, but the loss of income is a very real possibility. I hope I never need my preps again, but they are there, just in case. Just like having money in the bank, it is there should the need arise, the difference being I can eat my rice anytime….but the money in the bank needs to be withdrawn, then converted…..try doing that during the aftermath of a hurricane with no electricity, no stores open….and their shelves bare from the pre-hurricane rush. And if you could find anything, you pay top dollar for it. Why not buy something extra while it is on sale and save it for a rainy day?

Using the simple guidelines of eat what you store, store what you eat, you can not only remove a layer of stress, you can save money doing it, if you start now. Its always nice to have options, and this is something you can do for yourself.

Get started…..

Peace,
db

PS- The Droid works~ Not great, but it can get the job done. Nice to have that option, just in case…
